Atmadipobhava—the motto of this College wishes to illuminate all your surroundings with your inner light. It deals with the development of a complete woman with enriched knowledge, honest and perfectly Humane.

The college established in 1940 AD is the brainchild of Acharyya Muralidhar Bandopadhyay who devoted his life to the noble cause of education, social reforms and upliftment of the women of the pre independence era. His works marked this new era with enlightment and edification through woman education.

Located in a prime central position and well connected with all parts of the city by vehicles on road , train ,metro, this college is committed to the cause of woman of all the sectors specially who are socially and economically deprived. After a three years academic and soft skill development, the students are transformed into intellectually vibrant .socially responsible, self reliant woman epitomising the holistic approach towards life. The synergy between the teachers and students is the strength which we always fall back on for a solid pillar. The teachers are totally committed to the students motivating them to emerge as achievers in their chosen fields.

Keeping in mind the pace of modern technologies, the introduction of pure science stream with honours in Chemistry, Mathematics with Physics, Zoology, Microbiology as General Electives in the current CBCS system is a milestone in the history of this Heritage College which was previously lacking.

The students of Muralidhar Girls College dream of self employment and job placement through the College s placement cell after enrolment in the Alumni Association just after their graduation where a databank records their pre and post status. It is a special tribute designed in the memory of our renowned founder s inclination towards woman empowerment.

Various scholarships including Kanyasree, Udayan, Nabanna, Vivekananda, Minorities etc. and many others help our students to surge forward into their chosen fields without any economic hindrance with a clear and open mind.

The 3Ds are strongly inculcated amongst the students shaping them to be a perfect example in future.
