About the Department

The Department of Philosophy is a value based striving, students supportive department comprising at present 5 dedicated teachers and a number of students in both Honours and General stream. The Department started with General stream in the year 1948 and with Honours stream in the year 1959. The thrust areas of the subject are –Indian Philosophy, Ethics, Logic and Social Philosophy. The vision of the Department is to offer a wide range of exposure in various aspects, making Philosophy more appealing to the students.

The mission is inculcate into the students the values in life and to develop students’ imagination, intelligence, writing skill and moral judgement along with their academic development.
